Welcome to Heal Together!

Hi! My name is Zoe, and I am the founder of Heal Together. In 2021, I created this organization as a way to connect gun violence survivors from across the United States. After surviving the Parkland shooting, I understand that it can be hard to cope. Sharing feelings, discussing events, and describing the effects of trauma can be traumatizing in and of itself, especially when those around you may not understand what it feels like to survive gun violence.

But by connecting with other gun violence survivors, I have found a sense of understanding.

We just get each other. No judgement, no pity. Just understanding. We know what it is like to constantly be on edge. We know how it feels to flinch at every little sound or feel embarrassed for being "too sensitive". We understand our unique experiences, and that is an incredibly powerful thing.

I created Heal Together because I believe this understanding is key to healing. Our organization offers one of the only peer support groups for adolescent gun violence survivors. Because we are operated by survivors, our programs are tailored to the needs of our members. Heal Together provides a place to be yourself and open up to peers who can relate to your experiences.

We also publish blogs about issues unique to gun violence survivors, ranging from coverage of gun violence in the media to issues those with PTSD face. Make sure to subscribe to get notifications the next time we publish a post! And if you or someone you know has experienced gun violence and could benefit from becoming a member of Heal Together, please use our contact form to reach out! ✌️
